US COLLEGE GOLF - Scots help Missouri University to win US title

Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) and Rory Franssen (Nairn) played their part as members of the five-strong University of Missouri men's golf team recently, who won the annual Turning Stone Inter-Collegiate tournament for the fifth year in a row at Turning Stone Resort, Verona in New York State.

Missouri totalled 852, seven ahead of runners-up Texas A&M, with Toledo (875) a distant third in the field of 14 teams.

Walker tied for third place on 213 - five behind the winner from Texas A&M - with scores of 69, 76 and 68 for three-under 213.

Freshman Franssen, from Inverness, making his debut in US college golf, shot steady rounds of 74, 72 and 73 for 219 and a share of 13th place in the field of 70 players.
